Dana Arrington received her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. She completed an ASHP-accredited Community Pharmacy Residency at Kerr Drug in Asheville in conjunction with Campbell University School of Pharmacy. In addition to serving as Clinical Pharmacist at The Family Health Centers, Dr. Arrington is also the Pharmacy Program Director at Community Care of Western North Carolina, where she manages clinical pharmacy services for patients in an eight-county region. Her areas of focus include helping patients identify motivators and barriers to lifestyle changes and establishing plans to successfully achieve goals. Dr. Arrington is seeing patients at all offices including Asheville, Arden and Hominy Valley.
Dr. Balentine joined The Family Health Centers in August 2016. She completed her Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA, and graduated from the Family Medicine Residency Program at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center (an affiliate of UNC, Chapel Hill) in Wilmington, NC. Dr. Balentine's professional interests include Women's Health, Pediatric Care and Osteopathic Manipulation. Dr. Balentine is accepting new patients at our Arden Office.
Richard (Rick) Burris graduated from East Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina in 1985 and completed his residency at MAHEC here in Asheville in 1988. Dr. Burris, who is a partner in the practice, has been with The Family Health Centers since 1999 and is located at our Arden office.
Dr. Jason Cook joined The Family Health Centers in October 2014. A native of Eastaboga, Alabama, Dr. Cook graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Religion from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. He attended The University of Alabama School of Medicine, and went on to complete his residency with the Mountain Area Health Education (MAHEC) Family Medicine Program in Asheville. Dr. Cook is a National Merit Scholar and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Along with his wife and young son, Dr. Cook spends his free time enjoying the outdoors as well as Asheville's vibrant neighborhood locales. Dr. Cook is accepting new patients at our Arden office.
Natalie Dorsey joined the practice in 2014. She earned her Physician Assistant-Certification (PA-C) from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA in 2011. Ms. Dorsey also holds Teaching and Child Development degrees from Appalachian State University. Natalie Dorsey is accepting patients at all practice locations.
Debra Moon provides depression care services to patients as part of a partnership with Community Care of Western North Carolina. Debra earned a BA in Women’s Studies from San Francisco State University, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2012. She has more than 15 years of experience including working with breast cancer patients, those experiencing grief as a Hospice Bereavement Counselor, and with medically complex patients and their families at Mission Health. Her current role is one of Impact Care Manager, providing support for older adults with depression. Consulting with established patients from all offices
Dr. Lisa Choe Scott joined The Family Health Centers in 2013. She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in zoology and a minor in Spanish. She went on to the University of South Florida School of Medicine in Tampa, Florida and completed her residency at MAHEC in Asheville. Dr. Scott is active in her church with her husband and four children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, figure skating, playing music, singing and drawing. Dr. Scott's professional interests include contraceptive management, reproductive health, pediatrics and sports medicine. She is trilingual and can communicate with patients in English, Spanish or Korean. Dr. Scott is working at our Arden location.
Cindy A. Stephens achieved a Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Western Carolina University in 2016. The DNP is the highest practice-focused doctoral degree in the nursing profession. Nurses who achieve a DNP know how to apply evidenced-based medical practices to treat patients, especially those with chronic illnesses. Cindy earned her Masters of Science in nursing degree from East Tennessee State University, and achieved board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1998. Cindy also works with our doctors to provide team-based care to patients with Diabetes. Cindy is located at our Arden office.
Michael Stephens graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 1988, and completed his residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1991. Dr. Stephens is a partner in the corporation and has been with The Family Health Centers since 1994. He serves as our IT Director and is located at our Arden office.
