 Other Health Services

Having a regular family doctor helps ensure better health care outcomes for patients throughout their life, from childhood through senior years.  Our doctors enjoy building relationships that enhance year after year by getting to know you and your health history and assisting in recognizing potential changes in your health.  Once you have a preferred provider here at the Family Health Centers, we make every effort to schedule you with your doctor for all visits.  Should a time come when a specialist is needed, your physician at the Family Health Centers will refer you to an appropriate specialist and will work with them to ensure your "continuity of care".  As your "Patient Centered Medical Home" (PCMH), our team of health care providers and staff work together to be sure there is two-way communication with patients based on trust, respect and focused on shared decision making.

Providing vaccines and annual wellness visits for adults and children are just some of the ways we work to keep our patients healthy.  We offer a multitude of services including school, sports, corporate and DOT physicals.  In addition to seeing a family doctor or midlevel provider for primary care needs, patients at The Family Health Centers have access to ancillary services utilizing state-of-the art equipment including:

  • Event and Holter monitors
  • Electrocardiograms (ECG's)
  • Sigmoidoscopy
  • Pulmonary function tests (PFT's)
  • Laboratory tests
  • Dexa scans (bone densitometry)
  • Radiology studies

Diabetes Education

Cindy Stephens, our Family Nurse Practitioner here at The Family Health Centers, is our Diabetes Educator.  Did you know that a full and healthy life is possible with diabetes?  Even if you are headed toward diabetes, you might be able to avoid it.  Studies have shown that with knowledge and good management, people with diabetes can lead normal, healthy lives.  Good management includes a healthy diet, physical activity, maintaining proper body weight and not smoking.  If you are concerned about having diabetes, set up an appointment with Cindy.

Nutritional Counseling

Sandy Buchanan, is our registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator.  Sandy can assist you in self-management of diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, high cholesterol, obesity and other medical illnesses.  Since many medical conditions either develop or are made worse by an improper diet or unhealthy eating, Sandy can help patients understand the importance of the right diet and how to translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions.
